My So-Called (Green) LifeRead the articleMy So-Called (Green) LifeThis piece started like most snowballs start, with bad weather. Bad weather made me late to my Glamour Lunch Date interview with Elizabeth Shue, and in our interview I mentioned I didn't recycle. It didn’t go over well with Glamour readers, they sent hate mail. What?? Don't hate me because I don't separate my bottles! For restitution I wrote a cheeky piece for Blue Egg, a web site on sustainable living, about eco-friendly housecleaning New York style. The SeductionRead the articleThe SeductionI was hired to write the copy for a DKNY perfume ad, a special for the New York Times. The perfume is called Delicious Night. The creative team wanted a very short story that captured the magic of NYC at night, so I retraced one of my own magical city evenings. I’m no Don Draper but I do love this little night-time tale. 4 Billion BeatsRead the article4 Billion BeatsDid you know that 1 in 4 women die of heart disease? Heart On, a non-profit that raises awareness for female heart disease, asked different writers to write something about the heart, then a group of actresses read the work out loud at the annual fundraiser. I could write an essay, story, or poem as long as it was about heart attacks. While I knew nothing about heart attacks I did know a bit about heartbreak. And what was a heart attack if not a broken heart? So with poetic license in hand, I wrote this piece. For those who know me, its semi-autobiographical, and for those who don't its just another love poem.
